Microsoft 365 Copilot

Overview  

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot is a licensed service. It includes all the features in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and can be used for web-based (internet) and work-based (Microsoft Graph) chat. Copilot accesses data that your Microsoft Entra account has access to, like your emails and files. 
  • Due to licensing limitations, UNM is only able to sell faculty, staff and student employee licenses to departmental purchasers through the UNM Software Store. At this time, UNM is unable to sell licenses to individuals without the support of a departmental purchaser. 
  • Please note that Copilot Studio Agents are currently unavailable and are being evaluated for distribution with the M365 Copilot license for UNM users. 

Note: Currently, UNM IT is unable to service individuals with HSC or UH affiliations for Microsoft 365 Copilot.

M365 Copilot Studio

  • A limited version of Copilot Studio is included in UNM’s M365 Copilot license.
  • M365 Copilot Studio allows the creation of personal or shared agents but does not allow publishing to public sources like Teams. UNM’s version of Copilot Studio allows for users to create agents for personal use or share them with users that also have an M365 Copilot license.

Microsoft 365 Copilotis a licensed service. It includes all the features in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and can be used for web-based (internet) and work-based (Microsoft Graph) chat. 

UNM staff, faculty, and student employees may purchase M365 Copilot via a billing index to their departments. Due to licensing limitations, UNM is only able to sell faculty, staff and student employee licenses to departmental purchasers through the UNM Software Store. At this time, UNM is unable to sell licenses to individuals without the support of a departmental purchaser.

Microsoft 365 Copilot costs $365 per year per user. It is charged annually and requires a one-year commitment. Licenses are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Mac - Requires macOS 14.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later. 

iOS - Requires iOS 16.0 or later 

iPadOS - Requires iPadOS 16.0 or later 

Apple Vision - Requires visionOS 1.0 or later

  • An active internet connection is required to use Copilot on all platforms 
  • Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise and an A5 license are required for Copilot integration in Office applications. Office 2019 or older are not compatible with Copilot.

M365 Copilot Studio is a tool within UNM’s M365 Copilot license that allows users to create personal or shared agents.
As long as you are signed in with your UNM account, M365 Copilot’s enterprise data protection is enabled. To confirm that you are signed in, verify that you see a shield symbol in the top-right corner of your screen. This means that prompts and responses are not saved and Microsoft does not have access to the data for the purposes of training the language model.
