Microsoft 365 Copilot
Overview
- Microsoft 365 Copilot is a licensed service. It includes all the features in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and can be used for web-based (internet) and work-based (Microsoft Graph) chat. Copilot accesses data that your Microsoft Entra account has access to, like your emails and files.
- Due to licensing limitations, UNM is only able to sell faculty, staff and student employee licenses to departmental purchasers through the UNM Software Store. At this time, UNM is unable to sell licenses to individuals without the support of a departmental purchaser.
- Please note that Copilot Studio Agents are currently unavailable and are being evaluated for distribution with the M365 Copilot license for UNM users.
Note: Currently, UNM IT is unable to service individuals with HSC or UH affiliations for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
M365 Copilot Studio
- A limited version of Copilot Studio is included in UNM’s M365 Copilot license.
- M365 Copilot Studio allows the creation of personal or shared agents but does not allow publishing to public sources like Teams. UNM’s version of Copilot Studio allows for users to create agents for personal use or share them with users that also have an M365 Copilot license.
Benefits
- The licensed M365 Education Copilot can access internal organizational data stored within Microsoft 365 services (e.g., emails, documents, calendars) to provide more contextually relevant and personalized assistance.
- Additionally, M365 Copilot provides enterprise data protection (EDP) when users are signed in with their work or school accounts. This means that prompts and responses are not used to train the underlying AI models, ensures that data is held internally, and encrypts chat data during the session. UNM Support
At this time, UNM IT will provide assistance with license-related questions, issues with the software store, or issues with applications (i.e. crashing or rebooting) as a result of Copilot or Copilot Studeo.
